Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest OH MY!

Do you ever get lost in the world of technology and feel like it is impossible to keep up with the latest trend?  The trend was Myspace, then Facebook, then all of the sudden Twitter and Instagram came into the mix.  It is so hard to keep up with all the latest social media fads and how to be successful on all of them.  Fortunately, Myspace is not as in so I thought there was one less to worry about, but Pinterest has taken its place.  For those business owners or even individuals who are not as tech savvy out there, but need to keep up with the competition, all of this can be extremely overwhelming.

There is hope.  First, you do not need to use all of these channels to be successful.  Obviously there will be more exposure for you if you do, but focus on one or two at first and build your audience with them.  Having a large audience on one or two sites will get you your exposure and you can grow from there.  Second, none of these sites are extremely hard to manage.  By seeing what other businesses and users do on these sites, you will learn quickly how to effectively utilize that specific channel of social media.  Third, there is tons of help out there if you are overwhelmed.  The internet is filled with How To’s on every subject, there are marketing companies out there who can do it for you, and there are also tons of people surrounding you who are more well-versed in social media that could lend a hand.  Do not become stressed out with all of these new sites and look at them as an opportunity instead.  They really are opportunities, and if used right, then they can open up a whole new world of exposure.
